Zhang Lihua was a resident scholar at the Carnegie-Tsinghua Center until June 2020.

Zhang Lihua was a resident scholar at Carnegie China where her program at the center examined how China’s core values affect Chinese foreign policies.  Zhang is also the director of the Research Center for China-EU Relations at the Institute of International Studies at Tsinghua University.  

Her other research interests include political theory, European politics, and contemporary Chinese politics and diplomacy. With a long history of teaching and doing research at Tsinghua, Zhang has published more than 50 academic articles and seven books.

Zhang was a visiting scholar at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a visiting scholar at Maison des Science de I’Homme, Paris, France.  She also served as a visiting researcher at Seoul National University in South Korea.
